CULTURE INSPIRES CONCEPT

At SNAP14, we regularly find ourselves on diverse sets with talent and crew from every corner of the globe. Through our work, we have found that the most impactful work happens when our partners truly engage with the environment around them. True creative conceptualization relies on cross-cultural integration; it is the bridge between having a location as a backdrop and letting the atmosphere become a part of your work.

It’s not uncommon for international teams to arrive in Egypt feeling slightly out of their element, since the rhythm here is distinct and rather unique. This can create a sense of detachment from the landscapes and culture, leading to a final product that doesn’t feel rooted in its surroundings. Through integrating teams into Egyptian culture, they get to feel a deeper sense of connection and understanding of the country, far beyond production purposes. This integration can look like visits to different markets, good Egyptian food, sightseeing various landscapes; these experiences will always fuel an environment that enables creatives to be inspired.

We saw this play out beautifully during our work on Harper’s Bazaar with Vincent van de Wijngaard featuring Imaan Hammam. Having worked in Egypt on a previous project with us, Vincent returned in 2023 with a much deeper connection to the country. This integration directly inspired the narrative of the shoot; his comprehension of the heritage allowed the campaign to feel rooted in reality rather than just a beautiful backdrop.

Is it possible to execute a high-end shoot without this level of cultural integration? Of course. But the result rarely carries the same depth. Without a genuine understanding of the culture and heritage, a campaign risks feeling detached. Exceptional work is the byproduct of a team that feels connected to their surroundings. By ensuring our partners are truly immersed in the character of Egypt, we ensure a unique, inspired outcome that resonates far beyond the frame, for every campaign.
